WINTER COVER FOR MY SAILBOAT THAT WORKS
Sailboat 26 ft
When my 26ft sailboat was new, we bought a tarp for winter storage. We draped it over the mast, tied it down, and all was good. Or so I thought. After one season, the tarp had chafed badly in 11 places. 11 pieces of carfpeting and rolls of duct tape later, the problem was solved, but the annual setup was a bear.
This year, we bought the Navigloo cover system from Prima Innovations. it comprises a tarp, a multi-section ridge pole, adjustable-height uprights with straps for stability and side pieces that carry the tarp down without touching any of the 11 pointy bits. Also, 300 ft of rope, a manual, an instructional video, and a carry bag (2 actually)
Throughout the process of erecting the system the first time, we received excellent support from Navigloo, including catching a bit of cheating on my part, probably by zooming in on a photo I sent them before putting the tarp on. The only extra materials I needed were a couple of ‘noodles’, to keep the tarp from chaffing on the 4 lifeline stanchions. What took me so long?
